Artist Statement

I believe the best works of art make us ask questions. I like to be surprised by paintings. It could be the subject matter or unpredictable materials or simply color combinations that I never imagined could work so well together. 

So when I created my egg piece, I tried to incorporate this element of surprise by using relief in forming the eggs, creating a decorative band around the center of the large Ostrich egg. 

I like the idea of egg on egg-edible, life giving and sustaining.    

Even though my piece appears quite whimsical, it seems to possess a mystical or sacred element. For me, this dichotomy keeps me engaged
